Sony World Photography Awards
“The Sony World Photography Awards will showcase the very best imagery from around the world and will undoubtedly inspire and excite anyone who is passionate about photography” – Tom Stoddart
The Sony World Photography Awards will be held between the 21st and 25th April 2008 at Palais de Festivals, Cannes. The contest has 2 categories - professionals and amateurs - and is free to enter the competition.
For Professional Photographers, each photographer must submit up to 10 pieces of work for a single category.
Professional Award categories include:
1. Abstract
2. Advertising
3. Architectural
4. Fashion
5. Music / Performance
6. Nature
7. Nude
8. People
9. Photojournalism
10. Science
11. Sport
All submitted works will be judged by Academy members, and three finalists will be nominated in each of the eleven categories.
For Amateur Photographers, each photographer may submit up to 3 photographs into the competition.
Amateur Award categories include:
1. Abstract
2. Architectural
3. Fashion
4. Music / Performance
5. Nature
6. People
7. Science
8. Sport
All submitted works will be judged by Academy members, and a winner from each category will be selected by the Academy.
